Tagging enterprise content for easier access. Say what’s the big deal ?

Company – Stelae Technologies [www.stelae-technologies.com]
Interviewee/Founder – Aruna Schwarz

Content generation just doesn’t seem to stop. But the enterprise would agree there needs to be a better way of tagging content for easier access.

When my clothes arrive from the Laundry, I just throw them right into my closet. I wish I didn’t. But I’m just lazy. I wish someone could organize and manage this with no intervention. My clothes can be neatly marked out and the time I lose searching for what to wear, would not be missed.

Stelae’s product – Khemia, does this for Enterprise content. All of it.

How does it work?

Khemia will take data from any format (PDF, Word, JPEG, TIFF, OCR, XML, SGML, etc.) and will apply proprietary algorithms on this data. The algorithms will cater to the relevance, the legacy structure, little things like date/time stamps, etc. . And based on a configuration file, it will create an XML file that makes your content oh so much more easier to manage.

One of the finest in Automotive / Aviation are already using their tool.

Why should an Enterprise need this?

First things first. Content in all form is important. The time spent going through content is just a waste of time. Google anyone?

But searching something needs better organizing. The sheer volume of data can drain the most motivated of us all.

Better tagging makes life better and easier for everyone. Imagine financial traders. They’re getting real-time feeds of index values all over the globe. Perhaps a better way to tag and store this data could give them amazing analytics that could be processed into a new product.

Newspapers produce content like nobody’s business. Literally. Inputs from QuarkXPress or just PDF is enough to make an XML.

Financial Accounting. Invoices and more invoices. Legal documents. You can apply it to anything from here.

So what next?

The technology is being boxed. 80 content algorithms already run inside Khemia. Product and customer support needs to be strengthened.
